This is the story of a rather dysfunctional family. Vanya and Sonia, his adoptive
sister, have spent the last 15 years of their lives caring for their aging and ailing parents. Now that their
parents have passed on, they find themselves adrift with no clue how or where to move on with their lives.
(from the Director's Notes.)
Vanya (Jim Hyland) and Sonia (Mary Fernandez-Sierra) on another dreary morning. | Their housekeeper Cassandra (Trish Urso), who claims psychic powers, brings another pronouncement of imminent doom.
Masha, the other sister (Lisa Parker) arrives suddenly with plans to sell the house. | She's also brought her latest boy-toy Spike (Danny Viets), who appears to prefer to wear as little as possible.
Returning from a walk, Spike has brought back an aspiring actress he found, Nina (Hope Burnside), much to Masha's alarm. | Masha insists everyone go to a local costume party. She also insists on a Snow White theme, with her as the title character.
Masha wanted Sonia to be Dopey, but she refused, so Nina took that role. | The next morning, Cassandra tries some voodoo on Masha.
That evening, everyone takes part in a reading of a play by Vanya.
